The race now has a minimum price per balloon or duck @£3 each (this is the price you charge). The cost of processing a payment of £3 or less is more than the 12% fee so to protect all payouts a £3 minimum is required.
For example, the cost of processing a £1 transaction via stripe is 22% (20p + 2%):
In the past I’ve put these loss making transactions down to marketing. Every balloon or duck sold helps promote the concept. But…. sooner or later a race will go viral, sell a few million balloons & I won’t be able to pay out (not @12% anyway).
This minimum charge helps protect every organisation that uses the race. If you sell the balloons via your own platform you’re welcome to go lower (but I can confirm people are more than happy to pay £3 or more).
