This was a standard balloon drop installation very similar to the theatre work we do. This drop consisted of 2 x 750 Metallic Gold balloons lifted into the ceiling area of this famous Blackpool landmark. The drop was for the Biba 2015 awards and the client wanted one net across the front of the stage and the other along the centre of the room.
The one concern with this rig was the table decorations. All the tables were set up, laid and decorated with large centre pieces before our arrival. We couldn’t use the dance floor area to simply lay the nets before we pulled them up into position. We had to remove a few table centres and man handle the balloons into position before they were pulled a safe height above the tables.
When lifting the nets into a high ceiling it’s always important to make sure there’s plenty of slack on the pull lines. We don’t want them to catch on a chair and drop the balloons early.
