Step by step instructions: |
Find something secure and solid to build your arch from - if you can't find anything handy use a table or chair. |
If you are working on site try to choose a quiet area where nobody else is working. The balloon arch is easy to move once it's built. |
Try to inflate your balloons the same size. If you find this tricky then use a sizing box (as explained on the balloon gas page) or a digital inflator. |
| Tie the balloons together into duplets. |
Repeat the process and twist the two duplets together. |
| Once twisted together you will get a cluster of 4 balloons as shown. |
There are 2 ways of attaching your balloons to the line. You can twist the line around 1 or 2 of the balloons - or twist the balloons around the line. |
Repeat the process and add another cluster. In the example photo you can see the flat wall acts as a great base to build the arch. The clusters are sitting nice and flat so it's easy to keep adding and 'slot' the next cluster into position. |
Repeat the process, add more balloon clusters and the balloon arch begins to take shape. |
Depending on the length of your arch you may need to tie down your line. This is easier on your hands as the line can be sharp and cause burns. The only way to attach balloons once both ends are secure is by twisting the balloons around the line. |
Every venue is different and there's not always a secure anchor to tie your arch into position. We prefer to bring our own disposable weights - a 36" balloon filled with sand. |
If you want your arch to reach all the way down to the floor - attach your weight close to the bottom cluster of balloons. |
Again you can see here the arch is weighted to the floor. If the arch is being placed behind a top table this would not be necessary as nobody will see the bottom of the arch.
Also - if the floor is dirty or gritty it may cause the bottom balloons to burst. |
With the weights attached at both ends the arch is ready to walk into position. |
This arch is helium filled so it will only float 20 hours - make sure you build your arch the same day as your event.
If you need your arch to last longer it will need to be air filled on a frame or Hi-Floated. |
